In September 2026, Regen-tech Fashion, a Chinese manufacturer specializing in blended knit fabrics, joined an international group of suppliers invited to KOLON's supplier meeting in Seoul. The event was the focus of our Korea visit. We presented our knit fabric developments and discussed their potential use in upcoming collections.
We also visited other Korean apparel companies to meet their sourcing and development teams. Those conversations covered the details that determine whether a fabric suits a collection: how it feels against the skin, how it looks as a garment, how it behaves after washing and what it costs.
Knit fabric selections at the KOLON meeting
Wool-lyocell blends drew interest at the KOLON meeting, as did brushed and textured fabrics. The selections also included lightweight synthetics and stretch blends.
Our lyocell-Merino wool knit fabric range includes different weights and constructions for clothing worn close to the skin. One wool-lyocell fabric appeared in several brands' selections, giving us a starting point for further sampling. Across the range, differences in softness, drape and body give designers room to work: a fluid fabric for layering and a firmer knit for a standalone T-shirt can produce quite different garments from a similar fiber blend.
Heavier fabrics had their place, too. Several brands' selections included our brushed and textured materials, with constructions we develop for midlayers, casual outerwear and coordinated sets. We see potential in these fabrics for garments where a soft surface needs enough body to hold the intended shape.
The selections included lightweight synthetic fabrics, and many of the chosen materials contained elastane. There is scope to explore soft everyday layers as well as clothing for active use. Further conversations with each team will help establish the intended application.
Tactile Technology is our approach to developing fabrics that combine comfort with technical performance. We pay attention to how a knit feels against the skin and falls in a garment, alongside how it performs during wear. These qualities all affect the finished product, whether it is an everyday top or a layer for active use.
Stock knit fabrics and custom development
Brands can work with us through our established stock collections or ask us to develop a fabric for a specific brief. We develop our stock fabrics with quality and value in mind.
The Mousse fabric collection is one example. Its classic acrylic, viscose and cotton blends have a soft hand suited to everyday layering. Textured versions change the surface appearance, and wool blends provide further options. A team can compare those effects and their costs within an existing collection.
For custom development, we can adjust the fiber blend, knit structure, weight, hand feel or finish. We start with the garment's intended use and the feel and appearance the brand wants to achieve. Performance requirements and target cost guide the choices that follow.
Sometimes an existing fabric fits the brief. Sometimes it needs a specific adjustment. Offering both stock fabrics and custom development lets us respond to differences in product requirements and budgets.
Conversations beyond the KOLON meeting
During a separate customer visit, we met an apparel development team looking at fabrics for commuting, casual wear and active use. The team was particularly positive about our lyocell-wool blends, fabrics designed for one-way moisture transport and quick drying, and COOLMAX fabrics. They felt the material quality suited their collections and later borrowed sample garments for their designers to review.
A sample garment lets designers judge drape and body on a finished shape, and see how the surface looks across the whole piece. They can assess the fabric as clothing and bring that experience to the next discussion.
Material priorities in everyday apparel
Recent product launches help put these conversations in context. KOLON's lifestyle brand 24/7 uses a Core Fabric System to organize its range around selected materials and processing methods. Its published examples include creased surfaces intended to reduce contact with the body, and washed finishes that bring out a natural texture. KOLON's June 2026 announcement

The cost discussions during our visits gave these examples a practical context. A brand needs to decide which fabric qualities matter most for its garment and what it can spend to achieve them. We can help by recommending a suitable stock fabric or developing a material around those priorities.
What we take from the Korea visit
In our work with partners in Japan and South Korea, we have seen the care that goes into design and styling. We believe the fabric deserves the same attention. Its feel and character can help a designer's idea come through in the finished garment.
We were encouraged by the response to our knit blends and functional fabrics on this trip. For us, the interest in wool-lyocell blends, textured constructions and moisture-management fabrics points to opportunities in everyday clothing. Careful material development can improve comfort and give a collection its own character, with cost targets guiding the choices.
