From August 25–27, 2026, Regen-Tech Fashion exhibited at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition 2026, presenting our latest knit fabric developments at Hall 4.1, Booth H47.
Across the three-day show, our collection explored a direction that is becoming increasingly important in apparel development: bringing comfort and functional performance together.
From TENCEL™ Lyocell A100 and fine Merino wool to linen blends, Modal/Merino/cashmere fabrics and distinctive melange knits, the collection focused on materials that combine a refined next-to-skin feel with breathability, moisture comfort, thermal comfort, structure and everyday versatility.
Intertextile Shanghai Autumn 2026: Comfort, Performance and Material Innovation
The direction was closely aligned with several broader themes visible across this year’s Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics.
Official materials from the 2026 show highlighted performance textiles, sustainability and innovation as major sourcing priorities, with dedicated areas and programmes covering functional fabrics, responsible materials and emerging textile technologies.
This is also happening alongside a broader shift in material sourcing.
According to Textile Exchange’s Materials Market Report 2025, two-thirds of global manmade cellulosic fibers were produced using certified or controlled feedstock in 2024. The report also points to continuing investment in recycled and alternative cellulosic feedstocks, suggesting that material origin and production systems are becoming a more established part of sourcing decisions.
At the consumer end, the boundaries between performance and everyday apparel are also becoming less distinct. The State of Fashion 2025 from McKinsey and The Business of Fashion noted that performance and athleisure brands are increasingly moving into each other’s territories.
For fabric development, this creates an interesting challenge: comfort, functionality, material quality and commercial viability increasingly need to work together rather than exist as separate selling points.
Highlights from the Regen-Tech Fashion Booth
At Intertextile Shanghai 2026, our fabric selection reflected this balance across three key development directions: next-to-skin comfort, natural and premium fiber blends, and differentiation through yarn and knit structure.
TENCEL™ Lyocell × Merino for Next-to-Skin Comfort
TENCEL™ Lyocell A100 and Merino wool remains one of Regen-Tech Fashion’s key development platforms.
Our developments combine TENCEL™ Lyocell A100 with fine 18.5-micron Australian Merino wool, bringing together a smooth handfeel, fluid drape and moisture comfort with the natural thermal properties of fine wool.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers themselves are engineered to absorb and release moisture, helping support a drier microclimate close to the skin and contributing to thermal comfort, according to Lenzing.
For us, the value of the combination is not limited to one specific garment category.
By adjusting the blend ratio, fabric weight and knit construction, TENCEL™ Lyocell × Merino can be developed for next-to-skin tops, lightweight layering, relaxed everyday pieces and soft activewear.
This makes it particularly relevant to apparel designed to move between daily wear, travel, light activity and layering rather than being restricted to a single traditional sportswear or casualwear category.
Natural and Premium Blends for Modern Everyday Wear
Another important direction at the show was the use of natural and premium fibers in lighter and more versatile knit applications.
Our linen developments include cotton-linen and TENCEL™ Lyocell/linen blends. These fabrics are designed to retain the dry touch, matte appearance and subtle surface character associated with linen while creating a softer handfeel and more fluid drape.
The aim is not to remove linen’s natural identity, but to make that character more adaptable to contemporary T-shirts, relaxed tops, lightweight layers and other everyday silhouettes.
A similar development logic can be seen in our Modal, Merino wool and cashmere blends.
Rather than limiting cashmere to traditional luxury knitwear or heavy winter garments, carefully balanced blends can introduce a refined and premium handfeel into lighter next-to-skin and layering applications.
Combining Modal, Merino wool and cashmere also allows us to balance tactile quality with fabric stability, wearability and commercial considerations.
Across both linen and cashmere developments, the focus is the same: preserving what makes a fiber distinctive while adapting it to the way modern apparel is actually worn.
Structure and Texture as Another Form of Performance
Functional value does not come from fiber composition alone.
Yarn selection, knit construction, fabric weight and finishing can significantly influence how a fabric feels, drapes, stretches, recovers and performs in the finished garment. They can also provide another route to product differentiation.
Our Radiant Melange Cotton collection is one example presented at the show.
Using specially engineered multicolor yarns, the collection introduces subtle tonal complexity into an all-cotton knit while maintaining the softness, breathability and familiarity associated with cotton.
The result is a more distinctive surface without making the fabric overly decorative, creating opportunities across relaxed T-shirts, unisex styles, casual layering and contemporary everyday apparel.
Across our broader knit development work, we continue to explore how different structures, weights and surface treatments can balance softness with stability, visual character with versatility, and comfort with functional performance.
What Buyers Look at Beyond Fiber Content
One point reinforced through conversations around the collection at Intertextile was that fiber composition is only the beginning of material evaluation.
Buyers naturally want to know what a fabric is made from, but physical interaction with the material quickly brings other questions into the discussion.
- How does it feel against the skin?
- How does it drape?
- Is it breathable?
- Does it recover well?
- What garment is it best suited for?
- Can the quality be reproduced consistently in bulk production?
- And does the final cost make sense for the target collection?
These questions are closely connected.
A premium fiber does not automatically create a premium garment, just as a functional claim alone does not guarantee a good wearing experience. The final result depends on how fiber selection, yarn, knit construction, fabric weight, dyeing and finishing work together.
For Regen-Tech Fashion, this means approaching fabric development from the intended garment and wearing experience rather than starting with fiber composition alone.
The question is increasingly moving from simply “What is this fabric made from?” to “How will this fabric feel, perform and translate into the finished garment?”
From Intertextile to the Next Development
Intertextile Shanghai Autumn 2026 may have concluded, but the developments presented at the show continue.
We are expanding these material directions through new blend ratios, colors, fabric weights and knit constructions, including jersey, rib, interlock and double-knit structures for different apparel applications.
For brands, designers and sourcing teams, this means that a development does not need to begin with a complete technical specification.
It may begin with a target handfeel, garment category, wearing scenario, reference fabric or performance requirement. From there, fiber selection, blend ratio, construction, weight and finishing can be adjusted to move the idea toward a commercially viable fabric.
Whether the goal is a lightweight TENCEL™ Lyocell × Merino fabric for next-to-skin use, a softer interpretation of linen, a premium cashmere blend, or a knit with more distinctive texture and structure, our focus remains on reducing the compromises between comfort, performance, material quality and commercial viability.
